About

One workshop. One
point of contact.
Shipped anywhere.

Ubud Atelier gives international clients one point of contact and direct access to Bali's finest workshop, which produces a full container on spec in 8 to 10 weeks and ships door to door in 12 to 20 weeks depending on destination. You brief the project once. From design validation to door delivery, every exchange with the workshop runs through Ubud Atelier, and the workshop's master craftsman oversees every piece before it leaves Bali.

The role

An introducer, not a manufacturer.

Ubud Atelier is the point of contact between you and the workshop that makes your furniture. Its role has four parts: it introduces your project to the workshop, makes the first contact, facilitates communication between you and the workshop, and relays the workshop's information to you.

Ubud Atelier is not the manufacturer, the shipper or the guarantor. Production, quality control, packing, shipping and lead times are the workshop's and its freight forwarders'.

Bali has long been one of the world's centres for hardwood furniture. The difficulty has never been the craft. It is everything around it: language, opaque pricing, inconsistent lead times and the basic problem of trusting a workshop you cannot easily visit. One point of contact closes that distance. Not a catalogue. Not a marketplace.

From brief to quotation

What happens after you write.

  • The brief

Briefs are received through the contact form only: property type, scope, destination and target date.

  • The reply

Ubud Atelier relays the brief to the workshop in Kerobokan. A reply follows within 48 hours by email.

  • The quotation

After reviewing the brief, the workshop issues the quotation directly, with Ubud Atelier in copy.

  • Lead times

The workshop's typical production time is 8 to 10 weeks, and door to door typically 12 to 20 weeks depending on destination. These are the workshop's typical lead times, not a commitment from Ubud Atelier.

Hospitality projects, such as boutique hotels, rental villas, restaurants and beach clubs, start from €25,000. Private residences start from €10,000.

The four project types the workshop produces for

The workshop

One workshop, run by a master of export quality.

Most furniture sourcing operations spread orders across uncoordinated workshops, with no single accountable craftsman. The tradeoff is quality consistency: a chair from workshop A will never quite match a table from workshop B, regardless of how detailed the spec sheet. Over a full container of 40, 60 or 80 pieces, the inconsistency compounds.

Ubud Atelier works with one workshop in Kerobokan, led by Gede, who spent more than a decade controlling export quality for buyers in Japan, Australia and France before founding his atelier in 2015.

  • Craft-first

Every project includes at least one quality inspection at the workshop, by its master craftsman, before any container is loaded.

  • Visits

Visits to the workshop in Kerobokan can be arranged.

  • Accountability

If a piece arrives outside specification, the claim is handled by the workshop and its freight forwarder, with Ubud Atelier as your single point of contact.
